I really enjoy my Koi pond as well as videography. What better pastime is there to combine these two passions and create this pond videos webpage
These videos are absolutely free for all to download and watch - there are no catches, spyware etc.
If you have any input, postive or negative, feel free to drop us an email with your comments. In this manner we hope to improve

Software
I use Sony Vegas Pro 8 and Adobe After Effects to create these Videos. It takes approximately 6 hours of editing to produce 1 minute of final product and that is not including acquisition
Video Camera
I use a JVC DV500 3 chip DV camera which produces great results. I went to college for radio and television in my early 20's
Computer
My main rig is an Intel Based Core 2 Duo with an Asus Striker Motherboard. I have well over 2 terabytes in storage, 4 gigs of ram and an EVGA 8800gts video card. The system is water cooled instead of conventional air cooling. I'm a computer fanatic and have 6

Downloading Right Click on any picture or video link and select "Save Link As" with Firefox or "Save Target As" with Internet Explorer. Choose a location on your hard drive to save the file
Playing the Videos
The best media player is "Media Player Classic". Do you self a favour and give it a try, it is far superior to windows media player
Codecs (COmpression / DECompression )
The newer videos are encoded with the Windows Media Video codec (*.wmv) while some older videos are in Realmedia Format (*.rm)
To play WMV files, just download and install the codec pack "FFDSHOW" which will play almost all the video files that exist. It is tiny and easy to install
For Realmedia version files, download "Real Alternative" which is a free realmedia codec and plays realmedia files within Media Player Classic
Video Quality and File Size
With these codecs and settings, 1 minute of video is about 2-4 megabytes in size. This is a reasonable compromise between video quality, file size (a.k.a. time it takes to download) and our websites storage capacity
As a rough guide, a 56k connection can download 20-25 megs per hour |
